Its 16” by 8” widebody format creates a generous hitting area that favors stability during blocks, counters and quick exchanges at the kitchen. Rather than using extra length to shape its performance, this version concentrates more surface area across the width of the paddle. That can make off-center contact more manageable and provides a substantial face when reacting to fast shots. Engage positions the Widebody as a power-performance paddle with control, so its personality is more offensive than a dedicated touch paddle while remaining versatile enough for resets, drops and measured kitchen play.

Its Gen3 construction combines a polymer core with foam around the perimeter, adding structure around the outer portion of the paddle while retaining polymer as a primary core material. The 16mm thickness helps moderate the paddle's offensive response and contributes to a more controlled feel than would typically be associated with a thinner, highly reactive design. When players accelerate through serves, drives, counters or put-away opportunities, the construction is intended to provide access to added pace. During slower exchanges, the thicker profile and wide face support the control needed to take speed off the ball. This combination makes the Pursuit Pro2 Widebody particularly relevant for players whose points frequently shift between defensive resets and aggressive attacks.

A raw carbon fiber hitting surface supplies the texture needed to grip the ball and generate spin. That surface can be put to work on topspin serves, drives, rolls and angled attacks, giving players greater ability to shape aggressive shots rather than relying entirely on pace. Spin also complements the paddle's control characteristics by providing additional margin when swinging harder. The 5” handle and 4.25” grip circumference maintain a relatively compact setup and leave more of the paddle's dimensions available for its wide face. A two-handed backhand is possible depending on hand size and grip placement, although players who prefer substantial room for both hands should consider the 5” handle length when deciding whether the shape fits their technique.

The Pursuit Pro2 Widebody 16mm is best suited to players who want offensive capability in a forgiving, stable format rather than the reach-oriented characteristics of a longer shape. Its broad face is useful for reaction volleys, counters and defensive blocks, while the Gen3 construction provides the responsiveness needed to turn an attackable ball into offense. The raw carbon fiber surface adds spin potential, and the 16mm core keeps touch and control relevant across the softer portions of the game. The paddle is USA Pickleball approved and is also identified by Engage as PBCoR .43 approved, but it is not UPA-A certified. Taken together, its widebody geometry, polymer and foam-perimeter construction, carbon fiber surface and power-oriented response make it a strong fit for players who want a larger hitting area without limiting themselves to a purely control-focused style.

FAQ

What type of paddle is the Engage Pursuit Pro2 Widebody 16mm?

It is a Gen3, power-oriented pickleball paddle designed to combine offensive response with control, stability and forgiveness. Its 16mm construction and widebody shape give it a broader performance profile than a paddle built exclusively around maximum power.

Is the Pursuit Pro2 Widebody designed for power or control?

Power is a significant part of its design, but control remains important. Engage categorizes the Widebody as a power-performance paddle with control, making it suitable for players who attack aggressively but still rely on drops, resets and touch shots.

What does the widebody shape contribute?

The 16” by 8” shape provides a broad hitting area that emphasizes stability and forgiveness. It is particularly useful during blocks, counters, reaction volleys and fast kitchen exchanges where perfect center contact can be difficult.

Does the Pursuit Pro2 Widebody generate spin?

Yes. Its raw carbon fiber hitting surface provides texture for gripping the ball, helping players create topspin on serves, drives, rolls and other spin-oriented shots.

What type of core does the Pursuit Pro2 Widebody use?

It combines a polymer core with foam around the perimeter. The foam reinforces the perimeter rather than replacing the polymer core entirely, an important distinction when describing its Gen3 construction.

Is the handle suitable for a two-handed backhand?

The paddle has a 5” handle. A two-handed backhand is possible depending on hand size and grip technique, but players who strongly prefer extra handle space for both hands should consider the relatively compact handle length.

Is the Engage Pursuit Pro2 Widebody 16mm USA Pickleball approved?

Yes. It is USA Pickleball approved and is also identified by Engage as PBCoR .43 approved. It is not UPA-A certified.

Who is the Pursuit Pro2 Widebody 16mm best suited for?

It is particularly well suited to players who want power and responsiveness while prioritizing a forgiving face, stability and dependable control. Its characteristics make sense for an aggressive all-court game that includes drives and counters as well as blocks, resets and kitchen play.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0653/5882/3605/files/Engage-Pursuit-Pro2-Widebody-Pickleball-Paddle-Arctic-Gold-Front.jpg?v=1791409901
