Its construction combines a 16mm polymer core with perimeter foam, so it should not be classified as a full-foam paddle. The polymer remains the primary core material, while the foam surrounding the perimeter helps reinforce the outer portion of the face and support a more stable response when contact moves away from center. That construction gives the Pursuit Pro2 a lively offensive personality while keeping enough structure and depth in the core for drops, resets, and controlled contact. It is clearly designed to reward acceleration on serves, drives, counters, and overheads, but the 16mm profile prevents the paddle from feeling like a purely one-dimensional power tool.

The hitting surface uses raw carbon fiber, giving the paddle the friction needed to generate useful topspin, slice, and shaped ball flight. Spin is especially valuable on a paddle with this level of offensive intent because it allows players to attack with pace while still working the ball down into the court. Topspin drives, dipping passing shots, aggressive serves, rolls, and angled attacks all benefit from the textured carbon surface. The elongated 16.5-inch by 7.5-inch shape further reinforces the paddle's attacking character by extending reach and positioning the preferred contact area farther from the hand. That additional length can create more leverage through full swings, particularly on groundstrokes, serves, overheads, and balls that require extra extension. The narrower face is an intentional tradeoff. It does not provide the same side-to-side hitting area as a broad paddle, so players who place maximum forgiveness above reach may prefer another geometry. The Pursuit Pro2 Elongated instead favors players who can take advantage of the extra length and leverage.

A 5.5-inch handle gives the paddle meaningful room for a two-handed backhand while also providing one-handed players with flexibility in grip position and leverage. At the net, the Pursuit Pro2 is well suited to players who like to counter decisively, accelerate through openings, and turn loose balls into offense. Its power should still be viewed alongside the stabilizing influence of the 16mm core and perimeter foam. Shorter swings can be managed with more restraint than a very thin, highly reactive paddle, while full swings can access the Pro2's stronger offensive response. Control is therefore present, but it is not the central identity of the paddle. The thicker polymer core and raw carbon surface give skilled players useful tools for touch, placement, and spin, yet the overall design remains geared toward producing pace and creating pressure. Players who already have established soft-game mechanics are more likely to appreciate this combination than those looking for a paddle that naturally slows the ball down for them.

The Pursuit Pro2 Elongated 16mm is best suited to intermediate and advanced players with developed strokes who want their paddle to support an aggressive style. Its mix of reach, leverage, raw carbon spin, a longer handle, polymer construction, and perimeter foam makes it particularly attractive to players who attack from the baseline, drive thirds and fifths, use a two-handed backhand, or look to finish points through counters and overheads. It also carries current USA Pickleball approval, with Engage identifying the model as meeting the current PBCoR .43 requirement. Engage does not currently identify the Pursuit Pro2 Elongated as UPA-A certified, which is an important distinction for players competing under different equipment standards. Overall, this is a performance-focused elongated paddle for players who want offense to be the priority while still retaining enough spin, touch, and structural stability to handle the slower parts of a point.

FAQ

Is the Engage Pursuit Pro2 Elongated 16mm a power or control paddle?

It is primarily a power paddle. Engage classifies the elongated version for aggressive play, and its shape and Gen3 construction support that identity. The 16mm core and raw carbon fiber surface still provide useful control and spin for slower shots.

Does the Pursuit Pro2 Elongated use a foam core?

It uses both polymer and foam in its construction. The primary core is polymer, with foam positioned around the perimeter. It is more accurate to describe it as a polymer core with perimeter foam rather than a full-foam paddle.

Is the Pursuit Pro2 Elongated good for spin?

Yes. Its raw carbon fiber hitting surface provides texture and friction for generating topspin, slice, rolls, shaped serves, and other spin-based shots.

Is the 5.5-inch handle suitable for a two-handed backhand?

Yes. The 5.5-inch handle provides useful room for a second hand and is well suited to players who regularly use a two-handed backhand.

How does the elongated shape affect performance?

The 16.5-inch length provides additional reach and leverage, particularly on serves, drives, overheads, and extended contact. Its narrower 7.5-inch width prioritizes length and offensive leverage over maximum side-to-side hitting area.

Is the Engage Pursuit Pro2 Elongated forgiving?

Its 16mm core and perimeter foam help support the hitting area, but it remains an elongated performance paddle. Players with reasonably consistent contact are likely to get the most from its combination of power, reach, and spin.

Is the Engage Pursuit Pro2 Elongated approved by USA Pickleball?

Yes. The Pursuit Pro2 is currently approved by USA Pickleball, and Engage identifies it as meeting the current PBCoR .43 requirement.
